You know that area of a rectangle is A=lw. If you know the area to be 15.86 square inches and the length to be 2.6 inches, you would set up the equation as follows and solve:

A=lw
15.86=(2.6)(w)

You would divide by 2.6 to get w by itself.

You're length would be 6.1 inches.

For you to check for future reference, multiply 2.6(6.1) and you would get 15.86 square inches, which would be your area you started with.
