Yes, it's "e" -- the United States is a democracy, but not a direct democracy (in which every person would vote individually on every issue). We are too populous for that. So we elect people to represent us in Congress where the country's laws are made. We also elect a President who appoints many others who make the country run -- judges, cabinet members, etc.
