How do you figure out hydrate formulas?

From what? grams or percents?
If either, convert to grams.
Divide g cmpd/molar mass = moles compd.
Divide g H2O/molar mass = moles H2O.
Then find the ratio of number of moles H2O per 1 mole of the compd.
