HOW DO I FIGURE OUT -X2-5X-9=0

Are you 'solving' for x in x^2 - 5x - 9 = 0

If so, then x=(5 ± √(25-4(1)(-9))/2
= (5 ± √61)/2 by using the quadratic formula
