I think the answer to my first problem is 15 for the total bill but I am just guessing. I need to explain the answer.

You paid 2/5 of the bill (1 - 3/5 = 2/5)
To do that you need to divide 6 by 2/5.
6 divided by 2/5 = 6 x 5/2 = 30/2 = 15
