Multiply by the denominator to eliminate it:
Y/2 + 2 > 7
Multiply by 2 throughout:
(Y/2)*2 + 2*2 > 7*2
Y + 4 > 14
subtract 4 from both sides:
Y > 10
Note:
If an inequality is multiplied or divided by a negative number, the direction of the inequality must be reversed.
So in cases like this, watch out that <i>if</i> the denominator is negative, the sign of inequality must be reversed.
