can anyone please explain to me how come x=pi can't not represent a function?

x = (any consonant) cannot represent a function because by definition, a function cannot have more than one y-value to correspond to any x-value. x = pi would be a straight vertical line at x = pi (3.14), so it would have an infinite amount of y-values and therefore, cannot constitute a function.
