4x-8 - 6x + 8 =12+6x - 6x + 8
-2x = 20
now divide both sides by -2 to get
x = -10

4x-8=12+6x
-8=12+2x
-20=x

sorry.
2x=-20
x=-10

4x-8 = 12+6x
SUBTRACT 4x FROM BOTH SIDES
-8 = 12+2x
ADD 12 TO BOTH SIDES
4=2x
DIVIDE BOTH SIDES BY 2
2=x
