4x + 4 = 9x – 36

I need help on how to solve this

5 answers

4x + 4 = 9x – 36

40 = 5x

8 = x
But how did you get 40 and 5x?
4x+4=9x-36

9x and 4x are positives so wouldn't it be addition ?

Same thing with -36 and +4, they are negative and positive so I was thinking I had to subtract them
