Carmelita tosses a baseball straight up into the air and it returns to her glove in 3.0s. Show that she has to give the ball a vertical speed of 14.7 m/s if it is to return to her glove in that time.

The velocity = zero at the max ht.
t(up) = 3/2 = 1.5s.

Vf = Vo + gt = o,
Vo + (-9.8)1.5 = 0,
Vo - 14.7 = 0,
Vo = 14.7m/s.
