How are oceanic and continental crust alike? How do they differ? They are alike because both are part of the crust and, or lithosphere. They both slip past, diverge, and converge with each other. They are different because oceanic crust is made mostly of basalt while continental crust is mostly made of granite. Also oceanic crust is more dense than continental crust.
