one kilogram is poured into a cylandrical vase and fills it to a depth of 8 cm. find the cross section of the cylander.

how do i do this?

You need the density of the liquid, p in g cm^-3.

volume=mass/density
=1000 g/ p

cross section of cylinder = c in cm^2
volume of cylinder of liquid = cross section x h = c x 8

so 8c=1000/p

once you know p you can find c.
