The force F = (3.2, -7.1) N acts on a mass of 1.15 kg. At time t = 0 s, the mass has a velocity v0 = (-0.46, 0.36) m/s.
What is the initial kinetic energy (in J)?
i know that k=.5mv^2
so the answer i got was (.12167,0.07452)
but i'm not sure what to do from there?

If all they are asking for is the initial KE, then all you have to do is calculate
(1/2)MV^2 =
(0.5)(1.15)[(-.46)^2 + (.36)^2]
= 0.196 J
The applied force will allow you to calculate the velocity at later times, but they are not asking for that.
