There are two ways to balance an equation, by inspection or by a maths method.
Al2(CO3)3--> Al2O3+CO2
This particular equation is easly balanced by inspection. There are 3 C atoms on the LHS so to balance this we need a 3 on the RHS as below.
Al2(CO3)3--> Al2O3+3CO2
if you check the other atoms you will see that these balance.
LHS 2Al RHS 2Al
LHS 9O RHS 3O+6O=9O
Al2(CO3)3--> Al2O3+CO2
