How can a noun be misused?

One way is by using it incorrectly as a verb.
disrespect = a noun, but people often misuse it by trying to turn it into a verb, and it always comes off as slangy. (Even worse is the term "dissing"!)
access = a noun, but people started using it as a verb when referring to data on computers. Now (20 years later and more) using access as a noun AND as a verb is accepted.
It's the way language keeps "growing" and changing.
