Question
.17 kg hockey puck initial velocity 21 m/s stops 62m away. what is coefficient of friction?
Answers
Friction work = initial kinetic energy
M*g*mu*X = (1/2) M Vo^2
mu = Vo^2/(2*g*X) = 0.363
Note that the mass does not matter.
That number seems too high for something sliding on ice, but that's what I get. Someone probably invented these numbers out of thin air.
