you can line it up just like normal arithmetic multiplication
2x-5
3x-1
------
......... -2x + 5
6x^2 -15x
_______________
6x^2 - 17x + 5
(hoping that the x terms line up vertically)
best way to do (5x+1)^2 is using FOIL in
(5x+1)(5x+1)
= 25x^2 + 5x + 5x + 1
= 25x^2 + 10x + 1
2x-5
3x-1
------
......... -2x + 5
6x^2 -15x
_______________
6x^2 - 17x + 5
(hoping that the x terms line up vertically)
best way to do (5x+1)^2 is using FOIL in
(5x+1)(5x+1)
= 25x^2 + 5x + 5x + 1
= 25x^2 + 10x + 1
