Interchange x and y, and solve for y in terms of x.
y=2x²-1
x=2y²-1
y²=(x+1)/2
y=√((x+1)/2)
Check:
f(√((x+1)/2))
=2(x+1)/2 -1
=x+1-1
=x OK
