You use ellos (them). You use ellas if you were talking about all females. If you are talking about all males or males AND females, you ues ellos. Usted (Ud.) is used as you, formal. Ustedes (Uds.) is used for when you're talking to a group of people and want to be formal (such as a group of teachers). Ella is used as "her".

To determine the correct subject pronoun to use in Spanish when referring to both Juana and Carlos (a girl and a boy), you would use the subject pronoun "ellos."

In Spanish, the subject pronouns change based on the gender and number of the nouns they represent. "Ellos" is the subject pronoun for a plural group of people that includes at least one male. Since both Juana and Carlos are part of the group being referred to, and Carlos is male, the pronoun "ellos" reflects both their presence and Carlos' gender.

Here is a breakdown of the subject pronouns in Spanish for singular and plural forms:

- Singular:
- "Yo" (I)
- "Tú" (You, informal)
- "Él" (He)
- "Ella" (She)
- "Usted" (You, formal)

- Plural:
- "Nosotros" (We, masculine or mixed group)
- "Nosotras" (We, feminine group)
- "Vosotros" (You all, informal, masculine or mixed group)
- "Vosotras" (You all, informal, feminine group)
- "Ellos" (They, masculine or mixed group)
- "Ellas" (They, feminine group)
- "Ustedes" (You all, formal)

In this case, since we have a girl (Juana) and a boy (Carlos), the correct option is "a. ellos."
