I don't understand how to do it, that's the thing I know that 8 is a whole number, and that the square root of four is 2, and that's a whole number, and the aquare root of 49 is 7, that's a whole number too, and -3 is an interger.

All the whole numbers are rational because they can be written as a fraction, and irrational are the ones that can't be written as fractions. I understand that part.
