We Got Your Back (WGYB) is a non-government organization legally registered under Rwandan law. It was founded in 2019 by young people strongly committed to empowering children and youth from underserved communities. It envisions a community where every child and youth has access to the essential skills, knowledge, resources, and opportunities to unlock and realize their full potential. Our mission is to empower and inspire children and youth by offering a nurturing environment, comprehensive support, meaningful opportunities, and resources to promote their health, education, well-being, and development.

Nyobora summer program

The Nyobora Summer Program is designed to offer students a rich, immersive experience focused on digital self discovery, digital literacy & technology skills, critical thinking & problem solving skills ,communication & public speaking,entrepreneurship & financial literacy and life skills & emotional intelligence. Held during the summer break (2 months), the program specifically targets high school and university students on holiday, providing them with meaningful engagement through interactive activities. It aims to reduce the unemployment rate , while encouraging personal development, and support the enhancement of academic and life skills which will help their self expression for job opportunities .
Objectives of the training
Skills Development: Teach practical skills such as digital, communication, teamwork, and creativity ,training sessions
Personal Growth: Encourage self-discovery, self expression and to build confidence and self-esteem. Not only that but also support the development of life skills (digital, communication, problem solving ,entrepreneurship and emotional that are essential for future success.
Self discovery: Through life skills and emotional intelligence training will Provide chances for participants to learn about themselves and appreciate diverse identity and perspectives. And encourage inclusivity and suitable opportunities.
Self expression : The program also aims to improve participants’ English speaking skills by creating an environment where they can practice regularly through discussions, presentations, and interactive activities. By engaging in conversations, public speaking exercises, and collaborative projects, students will build confidence and fluency in spoken English, helping them communicate more effectively in academic, professional, and social settings.
Expected Outcomes:
career readiness : Participants will gain specific skills relevant to their interests, thus increasing their employability and readiness for future educational and job opportunities.
Enhanced Academic Performance Improvement in participants' understanding of key academic concepts and increased enthusiasm for learning.
Personal Reflection: Through self discovery participants will apply lessons learned to their lives, setting goals for their future personal and academic endeavors.
Network Building: Self discovery will help the participants to align to suitable Opportunities helping them build a network for future growth and support.
Date and Venue

The program is scheduled to begin on 30th June 2025 and ends on 22nd August 2025, with initial sessions focused on developing essential soft skills. These sessions will aim to equip youth with public speaking abilities, boost their confidence, and enhance both language proficiency and effective communication, leadership and digital skills. All activities will be held at the Nyobora Mentorship Hub, located at Kamonyi - Runda We Got Your Back office, providing a supportive environment for learning and personal growth.

The Nyobora Summer Program will bring together 30 youth from high schools and universities to take part in a variety of courses aimed at enhancing their skills and preparing them for the job market. The program is designed to help participants gain practical, in-demand skills that complement their academic knowledge, empowering them to be more competitive, confident, and ready for future opportunities.
