Did you read the first sentence in the Wikipedia article?

"A Tejano (Spanish for "Texan"; archaic spelling texano) is a person of Hispanic descent born and living in the U.S. state of Texas."

Hoowwwwwever, we ,who were born in Texas who are not of Mexican descent ,also refer to ourselves as Tejanas.
