What causes the different colors of visible light? My answer----
Different wavelengths cause the different colors of visible light.
Is that right?

Your answer sounds ok to me. I think I would put it this way.
Different colors have different wavelengths. When those wavelengths strike the cones in the eye's retina, the optic never then transmits the signal to the brain which interprets the signal as a particular color.
