1 As Anna hurried along the sidewalk after school, she could not stop thinking about the sleepover at her friend Stephanie's house.
2 When Anna entered the living room, she found her mother engaged in a conversation on the phone, and when it finally ended, Anna's mother told her that she had been talking to Grandma.
3 "Grandma wants us to visit her tomorrow," her mother said.
4 Anna reminded her mother about her plans for a sleepover at Stephanie’s house and said that they could visit grandma some other time.
5 "Besides, it would take us so long to get to Beaumont from Dallas," Anna added.

11 "My darling, Anna! Gosh! You've grown so tall!" Grandma exclaimed, giving Anna a tight hug.
12 Anna noticed that Grandma seemed smaller and more feeble, and she tried to recollect how Grandma looked when she last saw her but could not remember things clearly.
13 When Anna entered the living room, she was pleasantly surprised to see a big spread on the dining table, including dishes such as baked vegetables, meat pies, muffins, and caramel pudding—Anna's favorite dishes. While eating lunch, Anna noticed photographs of her childhood lined up on the wall.
