sorry, I misread you question. Look at this carefully...
(a x<sup>n</sup>)<sup>p</sup> =
a<sup>p</sup>x<sup>np</sup>
(a x<sup>n</sup>)<sup>p</sup> =
a<sup>p</sup>x<sup>np</sup>

and, negative exponents can be moved across the fraction bar...
a<sup>-z</sup> = 1/a<sup>z</sup>
a<sup>-z</sup> = 1/a<sup>z</sup>
