If it takes 16 faucets 10 hours to fill 8 tubs, how long will it take 12 faucets to fill 9 tubs?

10 faucets --- 10 hours --- 8 tubs
1 faucet ---- 100 hour -----8 tubs
1 faucet -----100/8 hrs ---- 1 tub
1 faucet -----900/8 hrs ---- 9 tubs
12 faucets ----900(8*12) hrs -- 9 tubs
so it will take 900/96 or 9.375 hrs or 9 hrs, 22.5 minutes.

but i don't understand how you got a lower amount of time if we have less faucets and more tubs to fill?

oops , I read it as 10 instead of 16
my mistake!
so let's simply fix that ...
16 faucets --- 10 hours --- 8 tubs
1 faucet ---- 160 hour -----8 tubs
1 faucet -----160/8 hrs ---- 1 tub
1 faucet -----1440/8 hrs ---- 9 tubs
12 faucets ----1440(8*12) hrs -- 9 tubs
so it will take 1440/96 or 15 hrs or 9 hrs
