If the percent hydration of CuCl2 x XH2O is 13% what is the coefficient of water?

1 answer

Take a 100 g sample.
grams water = 13 g
grams CuCl2 = 87.

mols CuCl2 = 87 g/molar mass CuCl2.
mols H2O = 13 g/molar mass H2O.

Now find the ratio of number of mols H2O per ONE mol CuCl2. That number will be the X in the formula. Post you work if you get stuck.
