Can you help me rephrase a few lines taken from The General Prologue to the Prioress Tale? Thank you very much.
1) "Her way of smiling was very simple and coy. Her greatest oath was only "By St.Loy"
2) Rephrase: Her smile was simple and timid (?)Her strongest oath was by St Loy, the patron saint of goldsmiths, which implies tat she hardly swore at all.
3)Actually, it was contrary to the rules of the nun's order (?) to swear. As St Loy refused to swear, to swear by him was considered as an innocent (white) oath.
4) When she ate, she was careful not to drop anything on her breast/not to make a mess. (instead of let anything fall from her lips. She also used to wipe (?) her lips so clean that no trace of grease could be seen (instead of "was to be seen").
5) "She was a coral trinket on her arm. A set of beads the gaudies tricked in green, whence hung a golden brooch of brightest sheen on which thre first was graven a crowned A, and lowe, Amor vincit omnia"
6) Rephrase:She wore a coral bracelet on her arm,a rosary whose biggest beads were green. A golden brooch, marked with an "A" was written (?) on it. A crucifix should have hung from it.
