20% of a number is 8 ... fine the number
20 divided by 100 is 5, 8 divided by 5 is 1.6
is the answer 1.6/8 ?

some number was multiplied by .2 to get 8
so that number is 8/.2 or 40

check : 20% of 40 = 8

by algebra.

.2(x) = 8
x = 8/.2 (as above)
