MEMO City of Dublin, Kansas Sanitation Department To: All Employees From: Todd Bell, Superintendent Subject: Civil Leave.
Employees will be granted civil leave if they have to appear in court as a witness for the Federal government, the state of Kansas, or any local government. Employees will also be granted civil leave if they are selected for jury duty. There is no limit on the number of workdays you may take for civil leave. If you are on civil leave for jury duty, you will be paid the DIFFERENCE between your regular pay from the Sanitation Department and what you are paid by the government. For example, if your regular gross pay at Sanitation is $300 per week, and you are paid $200 per week by the state of Kansas to serve on a jury, then your pay for that week will be $300 minus $200, or $100. You must submit a statement from the court that shows the dates and times of your jury service. The statement must also show how much money you were paid. If you are involved in a person legal matter, or if you have to serve as a witness in a private court case, you may not use civil leave. You will have to take annual leave. If you do not have enough annual leave, you will have to take leave without pay.
