The associative property of addition states that the way in which numbers are grouped does not change their sum. Therefore, we can rewrite the expression \((7 + 8) + 6\) by changing the grouping.
Using the associative property, we can group \(8\) and \(6\) together instead:
\[ 7 + (8 + 6) \]
Now, both expressions \((7 + 8) + 6\) and \(7 + (8 + 6)\) are equivalent.
