If you are asking how to insert those numbers in the Microsoft Word program, here are the steps:

1. Put your cursor right after the word or sentence where you want a footnote symbol to be.
2. Click on Insert (top of the screen) and then on Reference.
3. Choose Footnote.
4. A little window will appear with choices for you. If you want regular footnotes with consecutive numbering, it's all set up. Simply click on Insert. (If you want Endnotes or other changes, make them here.)
Thanks, but how do u get the number there without having the line at the bottom of the page? All I need is the number.
I don't think you can. It's just the way Word is set up. The line is intended to mark the division between the regular text on the page with the footnotes section.

Do you have to do footnotes? End notes are much less interruptive.
