Differentiate one term at a time and add them up. The derivative of a cosntant is zero.
f(x) = 2x^-4 -7x^-2 + 5
f'(x) = -4*2/x^5 -7*(-2)/x^-3
= -8/x^5 + 14/x^3
f(x) = 2x^-4 -7x^-2 + 5
f'(x) = -4*2/x^5 -7*(-2)/x^-3
= -8/x^5 + 14/x^3
