I didn't really know which category to place this into- but I have a question hopefully someone can inform me a little.
I have been visiting my mother in the nursing facility this week. The resident beside my mother has a pan full of charcoal that was placed under her bed sometime on Monday of this week.
Noone seems to know what its for or what it means.
I have seen another resident with
a pan full of charcoal placed under his bed about six months ago.
Can someone please tell me what this is for?
I have tried to quiz around the nursing facility and noone seems to know.
We are thinking maybe her family placed it under there, but noone seems to know why.
Anyone ever heard of this?
What is it for?

It is an old trick to control odors. A pan of charcoal, or kitty litter, is supposed to control odors. It is found in nursing homes. How effective it is I do not know.
If a resident is in a nursing home and the staff is using charcol to control odor then they are NOT taking very good care of the residents. I would get my parent out of there as well as report them.
