Mathematical models are universally used in engineering, creating equations that represent transfer functions (input to output), control functions (as in how much each valve should be turned), and feedback functions. The first thing engineers turn to is a math model.
In summary, models clarify our thinking process, and forms the basis for creating a prototype of the actual system.
