In conclusion, while the debate around censorship and the banning of television shows continues, it is crucial to recognize the potential consequences of such actions on free speech and creative expression. Censoring or banning content can stifle important conversations, limit educational opportunities, and prevent diverse perspectives from being shared. History has shown that attempts to control what can be taught or portrayed often stem from personal biases rather than a genuine concern for societal well-being. Instead of resorting to censorship, we should embrace the idea of choice, allowing audiences and parents to determine what they engage with while advocating for open discussions about complex issues. Ultimately, the creative freedom of artists should prevail, provided their work does not propagate hatred or harm, ensuring a richer and more inclusive cultural landscape for all.

Should some tv shows be banned or is censorship always bad?
Some may argue that some tv shows should be banned, or censored. However, this goes against free speech and the right to create and express ideas, which shouldn’t be taken away from a creator nor an audience no matter how controversial or “offensive” it may be. In some cases, censorship can stop education, expression, and prevent important conversations from forming.
Censorship
Censorship requests have been made on many topics such as racism, sexism, sex education and lgbtq+ issues. Teachers are being more pressured not to teach their students about these real world problems by the public.
In “Censorship Is Ruining America’s Education” it states “Censorship can be achieved in many ways. Almost 70% of all censorship requests are directed towards school libraries and classrooms, from books to films to lectures in the classroom. In the past eight years, the American Library Association has collected over 5,000 reports of banned books. A clear pattern of removal requests made to align with personal beliefs has been shown. Of the 5,000 requests, nearly 2,000 challenges were made alleging that the materials were sexually explicit, anti-family or ‘promoted homosexuality.’” Books are being banned from libraries because authorities are trying to hide certain things from students because of their own messed up, oppressive beliefs.
This isn’t just happening with sexuality, and libraries, it’s also happening with what teachers can teach. In another section of Censorship Is Ruining America’s Education called “Current Stances” it says, “Since January 2021 37 bills have been proposed by 35 states to place further restrictions on what teachers are allowed to teach within the classroom. These topics include sexual orientation, racism, sex education, and U.S. history. Idaho was the first to pass a bill like this, stating that the curriculum can no longer suggest that ‘individuals, by virtue of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, color, or national origin, are inherently responsible for actions committed in the past.’ Tennessee also passed a bill stating that teachers are not allowed to instruct that one race or sex is privileged, racist, sexist, or oppressive.” In addition there are even debates about banning the teaching of white supremacy and the kkk (Ku Klux Klan). This is ridiculous. These all are things that should be taught in all schools, but if not, they shouldn't be banned from teaching in the schools that they are taught in. Censorship is very harmful to the teaching of this society.
Should some tv shows be banned?
The answer is no. Banning a tv show is taking away the freedom of a creator to express their viewpoints, their ideas, and their storytelling. Tv shows usually show different lifestyles, cultures, and experiences. Banning tv shows can remove the representation and view of the creator and the creators content as well as taking away diversity. If you don’t like a tv show, don’t watch it. That’s how simple it is.
When it comes to young children, there is parental control. Parents have the option and the choice to control what their families watch and don’t, let them make the decision rather than making bans.
The only time a tv show should be banned, is when it is promoting racism, sexism, homophobia, exploiting and taking advantage/mistreating their actors/employees, and other degrading topics. Otherwise, creators should be able to create what they want without being controlled.
