how large a force is required to accelerate a 1300 kg car from rest to a speed of 20 m/s in a horizontal distance of 80 m ? I'm trying to find the formula and then plug in the correct #'s into the formula.

Vf^2=Vi^2+2*a*d

but a=force/mass

solve for F.

v^2=u^2+2as
v=final velocity
u=initial velocity
s=distance covered
a=acceleration

Substitute the given values in above equation and find a(a will be 2.5m/s^2)
Now from the Newton's 2nd law of motion
F=ma
F=1300*2.5=3250N
