-10=W-32+6
-10 + 32 - 6 = W -32 + 32 + 6 - 6
16 = W
We can check it by substituting 16 for W.
-10 = 16 - 32 + 6
-10 = 22 - 32
-10 = -10
Yep. 16 = W
-10 + 32 - 6 = W -32 + 32 + 6 - 6
16 = W
We can check it by substituting 16 for W.
-10 = 16 - 32 + 6
-10 = 22 - 32
-10 = -10
Yep. 16 = W

thank you. Ms. Sue is this the only way to solve this or are there more ways to?

This is the only way to solve it, although your teacher may have shown you a variation of this method.
Putting the numbers you add or subtract under each side shows what you're doing clearly when you're using pencil and paper. However, it can't be shown very clearly in this forum.

yeah, that's the only way my teacher showed me how to solve it, I think that it kind of seems unclear just on this forum, but that's okay, I can make sense out of it. Thanks
