2 / 3 = 2 / 3 * 1 = ( 2 / 3 ) * ( 3 / 3 ) = 6 / 9
2 / 9 + 2 / 3 = 2 / 9 + 6 / 9 = 8 / 9
2 / 9 + 2 / 3 = 2 / 9 + 6 / 9 = 8 / 9

well you have to get the denominator the same.
To get the both denominators to be the same number you need to go
2/3 2/9 what do 3 and 9 have in common? What number can they both change to, to become the same denominator? Well, 3 times 3 can become 9 and 9 times 1 is 9.. so the denominator is 9.
Then multiply the numerator of 2/3 by 3 because 3 x 3 is 9 and the numerator of 2/9 times 1 because 9 x 1 is 9.
you get 6/9 and 2/9
add the two numerators..
that becomes 8/9
