Question

What is the gravitional potential energy of a 100-kg rocket when it is at a distance of 1.0 x 10^7 m from the center of the earth. {Assume G = 6.7 x 10^ -11 m^3 / kg x s^2 and Earth's mass is 6.0 x 10^ 24 kg}

GIVEN:
m1 = 100 kg
d = 1.0 x 10^7 m
Earth's m2 = 6.0 x 10^ 24 kg
G = 6.7 x 10^ -11 m^3
r =
To find the radius would I divide the distance by 2.

Is it this equation?

PE = - GMm / R
