Ambiguous identities in "The Metamorphosis" would be Gregor being a human and a giant insect or having the body of an insect but the mind of a human? And in "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings" would it be the old man maybe being an angel or just a human who happen to have wings?

The trick the question is the word ambiguous. We don't know. Is Kafka saying that Gregor actually turned into a real cockroach? or is he using this symbolically? Does the old man really have wings or the wings being used symbolically? What are the authors using these physical anomalies to tell the reader?
