hockey teams receive 2 points for every game won and i point for every tie. One year a team won a championship with 66 points. They won 12 more games than they tied, how many wins and how many ties did the team receive?

No. of wins = W
No. of ties = T
W - T = 12
2W + T = 66

Add them together and you get
3W = 78
Therefore W = 26
Now solve for the number of ties using either of the first two equations
