Can someone please show me how to find the centroid of a triangle with a median of 36 units. I know the ratio is 2:1 and the answer is 36. I just do not understand the formula.

The centroid cuts a median in the ratio of 2:1, with the longer part towards the vertex.
so 2x + x = 36
3x = 36
x = 12
so the median of 36 units will be cut in the ratio of 24:12, with the 24 units towards the vertex.
so 2x + x = 36
3x = 36
x = 12
so the median of 36 units will be cut in the ratio of 24:12, with the 24 units towards the vertex.
