A recipe for muffin mix calls for 8 cups of flour, 3 cups of oatmeal, and 4 tablespoons of baking powder along with other ingredients. If you had only 3 cups of flour to make a batch of muffins, what would be the proper amounts of oatmeal and baking powder to keep the same ratio of products?
Can someone please explain how I would do this?

You have 3/8 of the necessary flour, so you'll need to use 3/8 of the other ingredients in the recipe.
3/8 * 3 cups = ? cups
3/8 * 4 tablespoons = ? tablespoons
Or you could set up proportions, cross multiply, and solve the equation:
3/8 = x/3
3/8 * 3 cups = ? cups
3/8 * 4 tablespoons = ? tablespoons
Or you could set up proportions, cross multiply, and solve the equation:
3/8 = x/3
