5/2x + 1/4x = 9/4 + x

Multiply both sides by 4x

10 + 1 = 9x + 4x^2

Bring all terms to one side of the equation.

4x^2 + 9x -11 = 0

Unfortunately, this equation does not factor. To get - 11, it factors into 11 and - 1 or -11 and 1. The other side (4x^2) can factor into both 2x or x and 4x. However, none of these combinations will give 9x. Do you have it written correctly?

Continue with abc formula so x = -9 + sqrt257 / 8 or x = -9 + sqrt257 / 8
