Here is a problem:
If i have a wire that is 75.0cm long and 0.550 mm in diameter and it has a 25 kg weight attached. I am trying to find stress and i have the area but I do not know how to find the force?

stress=force/area=25g/PI(.00055/2)^2

g=9.8N/kg
