How do I solve absolute value bar 5p plus 12 absolute value bar equals 7?

I5p+12I = 7
there will most likely be 2 solutions
if we treat it as 5p+12= +or-7 then it may be easier to see what is happening (if we get an answer of -7 from the equation, it will be changed back to +7 by the absolute value)
so we have 2 equations now
(1)5p+12=7
(2)5p+12=-7
(1)5p=-5 p=-1
(2)5p=-19 p=-3.8
unsure with any of the steps just tell me :)
