an electrian cuts a 22 ft piece of wire into two pieces. one oiece is 18 ft longer than the shortor piece. how long are the pieces?

x + x+18 = 22
2x = 22-18
2x = 4
x = 2

one piece is 2 feet, the other is 20 feet.

Check is 20 greater than 2 by 18 ?
is the sum of 2 and 20 equal to 22 ?
