Couldn't you make 1/12 + 1/12 = 2/12 = 1/6
1/6 + 1/12 = 3/12
3/12 + 1/12 = 4/12 = 1/3 etc

Can you make a capital i on your computer?
It may have something to do with factors of 12 but it may be coincidental that 1/12 + 1/12 = 2/12 = 1/6 so we know 2 is a factor of 12.
