It might affect the plants and since the animals eat plants the animals that need plants will die since there is no water and since there are also no plants so the Herbivores will die. And then, it would be hard for the Carnivores to survive because the Herbivores have died.

The first one is the thorns, it protects it from being picked so if you do pick a rose it has thorns right above the roots. Also as a flower it has to have petals and I also noticed that if you look at the newly budding ones that they have thorns on them. Some people go up to flowers and pick the budding flowers, so having thorns on them protect them too.
